According to Railway Gazzette, DB Schenker are to spend 410 million euro on fleet modernisation including 167 million euro on 71 locos throughout Europe. Wonder if any of these locos will be seen in the U.K.?

Unfortunately not, the new locos are for Euro Cargo Rail, to replace and work alongside the Eurosheds that have been expatriated from Britain. If I remember rightly anyway.

DB Schenker in the UK already has a surplus of locomotives in Britain, due to the decline in coal traffic and losing business to competitors. Otherwise they wouldn't be selling off class 60 locos that are 20 years old or less. The most the UK may see is the return of a few of the 66s that are currently at work in Europe.

DBs fleet in the UK is 30 fairly new Class 67s and 250 Class 66s (some obviously abroad). So, apart from the fact that locos are less widespred here, when they have nearly 300 locos just over 10 years old, why would they be spending it here?

maybe for there newly acquired franchises, xc, atw
Why would they? Just because there's a new operator doesn't mean there's new trains. The trains are staying exactly the same at DBs' passenger franchises, as there is currently very little investment expected in new passenger stock whilst the railways attempt to bring down their costs. New stock for passenger franchises is generally specified by the DfT anyway, rather than being open to the decision of the operator.

It would be highly unlikely that any train operator in the UK would be procuring loco hauled trains, and where would the coaches for the locos to haul come from?

If DB were to source their own new stock, it would be funded by sovereign debt. It would be far cheaper for them, and better for the German economy if they were to source brand new units via their own ROSCO.

Well, it does say that they are seeking to source EUR410M on fleet modernisation of which only EUR167M on locos - so that leaves EUR243M to be spend on non-locos, perhaps coaching stock?

DB is split into various subsidiary's, il just stick with the UK ones as the Euro part gets messy.

DB Regio UK:- Responsible for Chiltern and Tyne & Wear Metro
DB Schenker West: Responsible for DB Freight interests in the UK.
DB UK Holding Limited: Responsible for Arriva (For The Moment).

If anyone is interested DB Schenker is split into 3 Main Subsidiary's, West, Central & East, and then in turn those 3 departments are in charge of operations in their sector.
EG: West controls Euro Cargo Rail in France, East Controls Logistic Services Danubius in Romania etc etc
