DB Schenker- another trainee driver thread!!

Hi Experts
My application is already in the talent pool of another company , They again advertised a vacancy in a different depot and I applied for that one tooI am still waiting to hear from them.

I live in SouthEast area, Can I apply for two stations instead of only one? Will that give the company a bit of flexibility to adjust me in either one of those? or is it a bad idea and gives a negative impression?
Suggestions /Advices positive or negatives highly appreciated.

Also, in the application it says you need a minimum of 5 GCSE's at grade A-C which I unfortunately don't have. However having been in a safety critical role on the railway for over 5 years I feel my application would be strong, do you reckon the grades could be overlooked if it was strong enough or is that set in stone?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

This will undoubtedly sound very condescending, especially for my second post on this forum (FWIW I've been active on other forums since 2002, when I graduated from IRC and bulletin boards), but...that post is well spelled and grammatically correct, and so I reckon that nowadays you could easily score a C in an English GCSE just by turning up and taking the test as you found it!

As for maths, if you can operate a calculator to do accurate addition/subtraction and multiply/divide calculations, that's pretty much a C grade GCSE.

So I'd say go for it. When I became a bus driver I had to pass a test involving adding fares together, say 70p plus 40p for a mother and kid combo. Piece of ****, and by the time I actually passed my Cat D test the flat rate in London had come in, and kids went free:roll:.

Hi everyone, could anybody tell me how long you waited for your medical results from DBS and did they let you know by phone, e-mail or letter?

I will try and answer best I can, I attended my medical for mainline driver at peak Forrest today, and as we went through each stage she told me if I had passed or not, so all passed barring Urine sample which gets sent away but I know that's clean, I did ask what happens now they get in touch with the result via email and that takes 3-4 days so pretty much give it a week and DBS will know the answer hope that helps, also if you don't mind me asking where will you be based and what role ?

I had my medical last Thursday, like you say she told me as we went how I done, everything was fine. Like you Im just waiting for the urine test which will be no issues, I just wasn't sure as to how they'd get in touch and how long as she just said 'soon'? Think it had been a long day for her.

Was your medical in a little mobile van unit? Was quite an odd experience, while doing my hearing test I could really feel the thing rocking in the wind, also had the vibrations from arriving trains pulling up only a few yards away to contend with lol

That's just made me lol the comment about a medical in a van, unfortunately no mine was in Birmingham as there wasn't spaces in Manchester, and well done also to yourself wish my training was starting sooner mines 6th October, but needed 3 months notice with my current employer so it's worked out great really.
It's upto you but if you havnt heard by Wednesday I would give them a polite reminder, and I'm sure they will probably have the results sitting there keep us informed how your doing during training as even though we're different depots, I'm sure the training module will follow a similar pattern.
