DB have vacancies for mobile operatives based at various locations. What sort of roles will be expected from them? Obviously prepping trains for dispatch at the base location, safety checks maybe some shunting. Its the "mobile" bit I'm not sure about, especially if base location isn't really near any other freight facilities. (South kent, Dollands Moor). Also any ideas how tough/easy the assessment is? (I've sat and passed a train driver stage 1 assessment with the opc to national standard in the past)

Mobile means you can go to places that have yards or travel with a train that needs shunting in to places . You will have a base but if you need to drive some other place nearby then you would do that . I don't believe that there is any train driving involved but driving of a motor vehicle will be included .

You have a base location which you go to, then any other place you travel to will be in a work provided van (which you'd pick up from where you book on at).

No train driving involved.

Shunting, train prep and run rounds, some engineering site work (depending on the location as not all do it).

Think the assessment is fairly easy. You thinking that then move onto driving?
