Slightly off topic, but do you know where the 20s have gone to?

Hmmm, where's that info from? Is it a reliable source usually?I am also told that Colas are buying some of the red DB Class 60s.
.... The source is someone who is usually in the know and reliable, and so I have reported this information in good faith. He didn't say it was confidential so I hope it wasn't!! I was told in response to me asking if there would be other opportunities to photograph Class 60s working. However, as is the nature of such matters, a purchase may not actually come to pass but I have sent a message asking how reliable the information is. My source is away from home over Christmas and I am away off grid soon for a few days.Hmmm, where's that info from? Is it a reliable source usually?
If I hypothetically take this at face value I'd find it to be an odd move by the company given their original 60s went to GBRf and Colas are about to hire in additional 70s from FL from my understanding (specifically 70009/70019 both being brought back from the dead). So you'd expect a move to purchase 60s would be done due to a significant expansion in operations/contracts which I haven't heard happening at Colas recently

Great shot btw!

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned. Whenever we hear about a DB high tractive effort shed getting out and about on the mainline is probably when we'll know their days are almost up. I'm assuming that'll still be in h1 2024 though. So am I right in thinking that we may still have the odd db 60 at the start of 2024?
Just the three I believe, 024, the hideous 062 and 074How many are still working? I've not seen one on the Robeston oil trains for a while.
Is 066 Drax still out and about? I was under the impression it was three when 074 wasn't runningJust the three I believe, 024, the hideous 062 and 074

Ahh fair enough - another one bit the dust then!066 is showing as withdrawn to the WQBA pool on the WNXX fleet status list, the other three are all WCAT
Many thanks! Yes the livery on 62 is certainly different.Just the three I believe, 024, the hideous 062 and 074
I photographed Class 60 028 in Cappagh livery recently heading down towards Westbury on 15th December. Cappagh own DC Rail and I am told it's a regular run 6Z52 Tytherington - Quainton Railhead. I am also told that Colas are buying some of the red DB Class 60s.

.... Having now spoken with my source he expanded the information he had given me to say that it should be taken as a distinct possibility rather than a certainty because unless you were in the boardroom when decisions were signed off (which he wasn't), such information could only be speculative even if thought as highly likely..... Didn't last at Peak Forest very long, in fact I think it was only a day6E03 Wolverhampton Steel terminal to Toton, 6/1/2024. 60074. Looking and sounding great.
I understand 60024, 062 and 074 were withdrawn and stored last night. I was going to visit Peak Forest tomorrow for 024 but it sounds like I'm too late. Can anyone confirm th

I heard from unqualified source, that reduced load with Class 66, or alternative top and tail at some point of the journey? Regardless, one way or another, may increase costs?I wonder what's going to get thrown on the Lostock stone moves then in the meantime whilst the high output sheds are developed? Perhaps we could see double heading for a bit?
66158 on 20 hoppers worked from arpley to peak forest today, 4 down on a 60 I think.I heard from unqualified source, that reduced load with Class 66, or alternative top and tail at some point of the journey? Regardless, one way or another, may increase costs?
Tbf, given the fleet are destined for permanent removal this year, it wouldn't surprise me if DB just didn't bother rectifying this issue on the loco(s) and just kept them out of serviceAn interesting report on WNXX this morning, it seems that 'an issue' has been found with 062, other than that hideous livery, while it was undergoing a 'B' exam which has caused the stopping of all three 60s, they all currently remain in the operational pool so it may not be the end after all
60024 will have to move at some point as it is currently stuck at Warrington.Tbf, given the fleet are destined for permanent removal this year, it wouldn't surprise me if DB just didn't bother rectifying this issue on the loco(s) and just kept them out of service
