Sorry you got that then.A bit **** they don’t give you any feedback.
There is a TOC (and tempting though it is to name them, I am not going to) who don't necessarily give feedback even if you get to interview stage (and ask for it).
I think both of you may be surprised in simply how many applicants such roles get. It simply isn't feasible to give individualised feedback to hundreds or thousands of applicants.
Sir, I might say that is a touch presumptuous of you but be in no doubt that what I am trying to do here is help others. Anyway, perhaps it is not individualised but some readers may nevertheless be interested in this extract of what I received the other day (from yet another TOC):

/BEGINS
CV: Your CV should be well structured e.g. most recent job first. There are available resources online to help you create your CV, for example; UK CVs or Totaljobs. Please try to avoid your CV being too long and please do not upload anything other than your CV and cover letter.

Spelling and grammar: Please double check your spelling and grammar throughout the application.

AI applications: We want to know the real authentic you so please apply using your words.

What you have posted there is advice pre-application. You are complaining about a lack of feedback, post-application.

Those are quite different things.

Well, I hate to contradict you but for one thing I do not recall even mentioning feedback until you did. For another, I can assure you that the above is an extract from an email that I received in response to an application, i.e. a rejection.

You said your response was "generic" and not in a flattering way. The person who responded to you also talked about the disappointment that there was no feedback in the message.

Hmm technically I was asked whether the rejection was generic and I invited the person who asked (and anyone interested) to draw their own conclusions. Those, I think it is fair to say, are quite different things. I apologise for any offence that my endeavours to inform others may have caused you if that's what this is about.

Not at all. I was just saying that it is pretty much impossible for companies to give feedback or anything other than generic comments at the application phase these days due to the sheer number of applicants. No offence taken.

Just to echo a bit what Horizon said. I am currently in the application pipeline with another TOC but further along. When i sat the psychometrics the lady running the test told us there were 4000 applicants for the round they advertised and that was for only 3 specific depots. She said that the campaign before ours had 3000 applicants, again for only a few specific depots. This one for DB is country wide so just extrapolating the numbers up it wouldn't shock me if they were looking at 20,000-50,000 applications. So not surprising there is no feedback at this stage.

When they say if you haven’t heard from them within 20 days take it as you haven't made it. is that from when the vacancy is taken off there website or when you apply for the role?

pessimistically i would say its from when you apply. I've also not heard anything and the 20 days from application for me is tomorrow. But seeing as no one here seems to have received a positive response yet there may still be hope. It could well be just the default wording they stick on all recruitment emails regardless of the position.

I thought the same 20 days from application but it’s possible it’s from the advert closed I guess.
My 20days is from applying is also tomorrow.
Law of averages somebody on here would’ve heard back surely.

I haven't heard anything either. I am presuming that as today is a bank holiday we might not hear something. However if I havent heard anything on Wednesday/Tuesday I am assuming I didnt get the role

I wouldn't worry about the days unless there are people confirmed to be heading to the next stage. It's probably a general message they send out to anyone who applies to any job and any train driver job is notoriously long so I doubt the normal window applies to be honest but who knows.

Still nothing for me, I don’t know weather to take it as good news. Sounds like they are getting back in touch with people

nothing on my side either. Though having read these forums for a while the general consensus seems to be 'no news is good news' and 'railway recruitment is glacially slow' so I'm just putting it out of my mind and sitting tight until something happens.

Short rejection email, no feedback as expected. They are still working through them it seems!

Got the same here today. Would normally have been gutted but I failed my ATAVT test at the beginning of April with Northern so down a life and 11 months before I can go again. Good luck to all those still in it!

The game is the game...

Anyway, congratulations for getting to where you are, no mean feat for sure. Here's hoping Avanti will give you The Phone Call sooner rather than later.

Has anyone received an update or any progression to the next stage? I know recruitment tends to be slow on the railway, but would expect some positive news from members on this forum.
