Cheers for that. I thought with Carlisle being a hub into Scotland, down WCML, across to north east and down the Settle - Carlisle line that it may be a fairly busy depot? Why do you say not to expect many jobs to come up in Cumbria by the way??
Don’t forget that a significant number (maybe all) of West Yorkshire (based Kirkgate now) do Carlisle, as do the Newcastle lot across the Tyne Valley. Warrington go all the way to Scotland on Mail / containers. Carlisle is looking ever obsolescent.

Because they don’t have much work there, they only sign mossend to Warrington , odd one signs Tyne valley, gsw , they only do s&c to Kirby thore, and very few sign those last ones I have mentioned. Plus I know as most vacancies have been filled .

But strangely they advertised in this thread’s campaign for Carlisle and they have readvertised again with one open currently.

Did anyone apply for DB Eastleigh Talent Pool prior to Christmas?

I was selected for assessment and the email gave a list of dates on which assessments would be held in Doncaster. I replied to that email on the very same day that I received it (17th Dec) with the details they requested, but I heard nothing from them. About 10 days ago I emailed again, including forwarding my original response. To date, still absolutely no reply, not even an acknowledgment. Given that the prep materials have to be sent out seven days in advance and the last date they quoted for holding assessments is 3rd February, today (Wednesday) is quite literally the absolute deadline to hear from them!

I realise Covid 19 has still been loitering, but even if their HR department were working from home and assessments were going to be put back by a few weeks, could there not have been a generic email sent out to keep everyone in the loop?

Probably worth a follow up just in case they are expecting you and meant to send you the application pack

The fact that I did follow up 10 days ago, and still no response, is a concern. I have checked my junk mail folder daily too - as things can land in there from time to time.

In my fairly limited experience I’d say that railway recruitment teams seem to be small, and often it seems it’s one person dealing with a particular job. One job I’d applied for, the recruiter was part time so would only pick up and reply certain days of the week. Most companies I find only reply or contact you when they want something or when it suits them to do so, I think they’re bombarded with so many people wanting continued updates on their application that they ignore emails unless it is someone they need to contact at that time.

In your case, where they have given you dates that you have replied to, and that you need to know what is going on, I think I’d be chasing it up, they may have missed the other email. It’s a tough call, you need to know, but you don’t want to be seen as pestering them..

I had the assessment in Doncaster yesterday. There were supposed to be three of us there, but the other two didn't turn up and never made contact to say that they wouldn't be coming.

Cheers Thankyou
Good luck

The staff that I met from DB during the process were really nice/helpful, from Doncaster to Mossend which helps with the whole process.

I emailed to chase it up after my medical. And had a few phone calls to make sure it was still happening, but it’s not quick, I waited about 5/6 months. Best of luck to you all.
