Doncaster has been used last year and this year too.
Doncaster is only used if there's simultaneous full courses running at Toton or Didcot.

There's no facilities as such at Doncaster (CSDC doesn't really cater for safety critical staff), so it means hiring somewhere and then going to Belmont.

99% of the time, it'll be Toton or Didcot.

Some who have just gone to South Yorkshire had their training at Toton.

Was that for a Doncaster based role ?
No such role, it's 'South Yorkshire'.

You get put up in hotel and either train tickets or mileage.

See first page of this thread, vacancy at ‘Rotherham, South Yorkshire’
This is what I applied for, it's definitely Rotherham, South Yorkshire. However, there has been zero movement since the application stage so maybe it is a fictional role

Does anyone know if courses are still running each month?

are courses at Toton normally for hubs in the north and Didcot for hubs in the south?

I have had my medical now for the barking trainee train driver around a month ago now. I have been told verbally over the phone that November is my start date. I have to give a months notice at GwR so I’m starting to get a little anxious I’m reluctant to hand in my notice before I’ve signed a contract. I don’t really have anyone I can ring to chase up what’s happening. Does anyone have any advice or phone numbers that could help me at all please?
I have my interview coming up, is there any possible advice you could give? it would be greatly appreciated

Google STAR questions and advice on how to structure your answers.

Thanks I was more asking about what will be asked from anybody who has interviewed recently for some inside pointers??
Did you get a set of example questions from HR when they confirmed your interview? I had one and the questions were very similar to these. If anything they were just worded slightly different.

Erm to be honest my interview was back in January 2020 so it’s abit blurry in my memory by now. But some questions were things like
1. What do you know about the role
2. What will you bring to the role
3. Examples of when you had to follow a timetable/schedule etc
4. Examples of when you had to follow strict rules/procedures
5.Examples of when you had to work independently.
6. How are you at working alone/how do you feel you will be working alone.
7. why are rules and procedures important
8. How will you maintain concentration and how will you cope concentrating for so long alone?

sorry I can’t be more help as I said it was a long long time ago now

Does anyone know anything about the barking train drivers role.

What are the routes or how far are we expected to go?

what is the training like?

Can you take annual leave during the training?

I believe the first 12 weeks are in a classroom and it can’t be interrupted or have any gaps but afterwards what are you doing and is annual leave allowed at that point?

my interview was in January 2020 and I’ve been in the talent pool since. Getting in and through the training is my priority but also if friends are organising a holiday next year I’d like to know what I can and can’t do etc.

I don't know if it'll be exactly same in DB, but general rule is no A/L for certain period, no guarantee of A/L for entire training.

Whenever you have classes you can't take A/L, then when you're with your instructor, you get leave at exactly same time as him. You may miss out on some holiday if your instructor has leave when you've got classes.

When you’re in a talent pool. How do they select people from it? Do you essentially join a queue once you’re in the talent pool, or can people go in a the talent pool for your hub after you and get a start date before you?

thanks in advance

How long have you been in a talent pool and for which region?

I think only they really know how it works:s

Had an update on my application for Warrington, showing ‘end of process’ guessing that means failed the sift, didn’t get an email so does look like they are processing the applications at some sites.

My application for ground staff is showing end of process on the DB website but I received a email confirming I passed the interview and have been placed in the talent pool. Just a waiting game now for a medical and start date.

I’m currently in a talent pool for both East Midlands & South Yorkshire after successful assessment day and DMI recently, no more training dates this year apparently but fingers crossed it won’t be ages

Nice one, congrats mate.
Not looking good for me then if putting people in the pool for it that didn't apply for the depot.
