Been looking at history of DBs 232s (and associated classes) and raised a couple of questions. Some publications have 232349 and 232413 as having received the 12 cylinder engines (similar to that used in 233s) but can't verify this, does anyone have further information to confirm or dispel this?
Also a number had new cooler groups fitted - what was the advantage of these as seems not all locos were so fitted and indeed there are a number still running for DB with the original cooler groups?
Also a number of 233s were stored awaiting overhaul whilst 232 overhauls continued; why was this? Was the 233 refurbishment not quite as good as intended? Would've thought the more modern power unit would've been justification alone for preference to keep the 233s?
