Days Out With Thomas

Are these weekends still as popular on preserved railways as they were a few years ago as i have heard mutterings to the contrary?

I can understand why the preserved lines do this- it encourages visitors who wouldn't otherwise go. However I personally stay away- I find it pricey, and I'm not sure how much of the income the copyright holders siphon off. My son, who's 3, loves Thomas, but is just as happy to go for a day out on a preserved railway on a regular running day, when I know all my fare is going towards the upkeep of the railway.

Mid Hants Railway have just finished their Easter Thomas event. Led to believe it went well. I also understand its one of their biggest events of the year. They run two Thomas events each year with the next one being in August.

Whilst Thomas is still popular, it is expensive/difficult to get the needed license, many lines now do Peppa Pig/ Paw patrol etc. to keep the younger clients ( future customers/volunteers) amused. Certainly I think nearly all preserved lines recognise and cater for the child market.

The Spa Valley Railway has a Thomas event on 13&14 and 20&21 May.

Depends on the contract signed by the railway, not all railways are on the same contract terms.
