Just out of curiosity, is it normal to have a day ticket punched? I’ve just had a merseyrail day ticket clipper by a guard on the train and that’s the first time that’s happened. I suppose it makes no difference to anything, just curious really.

A bit unusual but I'd suspect they were just on auto-pilot.
