I'm trying to find a Day Return ticket between Lincoln and Hull for Sunday 22nd. I'm finding it odd that I can't find a Day Return ticket offered due to how close the stations are and the respective service they receive especially as there is a One change route easily through Doncaster

There are no return fares, day or otherwise, as the journey is priced by LNER. You may get split day returns if you try a site such as Trainsplit.

Anytime Day Return (Lincoln->Doncaster) is £21.90 and Off Peak Day Return (Doncaster->Hull) "route via Brough" is £23.90. Total £45.80.

77 miles between Lincoln and Hull which seems a bit far for a day return anyway, notwithstanding LNER's fare pricing policy.

About 36 miles as the crow flies, although that's of no help to the OP.

Think they were planning on travelling by rail, rather than by helicopter.
I know, I was just pointing out how much further it is by rail compared to direct, with the OP commenting on "how close the stations are".

How about a return to Barton on Humber for a brisk walk across the bridge then pick up the train to Hull at Hessle?

It feels odd that it's priced by LNER when any journey between the stations is highly unlikely to ever use them considering their poor service to Hull and no north facing service from Lincoln.
It feels like it should be by Northern instead with them running the Doncaster-Hull stoppers which are much more frequent.

There appears to be a Scunthorpe-Barton oH-Hull bus: East Yorkshire/Stagecoach 350. Half-hourly on weekdays, sparse on Sundays and only north of Barton. I don’t know if there are any connections to and from Barton on Sundays or they just leave you there: I have been there and once is enough.

The 350 runs from Scunthorpe to Hull runs 7 times and back on Sundays. But there are no buses from Scunthorpe to Lincoln on a Sunday.

In the opposite direction, there's a National Express coach that calls at Lincoln on its way from Hull to London and back, but whilst is of zero use to the OP.
