As I have (just) turned 55 and qualify for Northern`s over 55 explorer ticket Northern over 55 Explorer Ticket), I thought I would treat myself to a day out with @Polarbear .
For the extortionate price of £15.90 , I went Southport to Buxton (which is a lovely place) via Man Picc, we then caught the High Peaks 61A ( £8.20 for both of us) to Glossop where we had lunch.
Then it was Glossop to Preston via Man Picc for coffee and on the way back I went Preston to Wigan North Wester, crossed the road to Wigan Wallgate then Wigan Wallgate back to Southport.
All in all it was a lovely day out and we are now planning for a day out with a Northern £10 Rover - we went to Buxton to get the tokens needed for the offer !.
