Dawlish warren to Dawlish footpath

Just a quick question, does anyone know if there is an opening date set for the footway on the breakwater between Dawlish and Dawlish warren stations as I'm planning to walk between the two stations in late may ? or is there an alternative route ?

I was down that way on Saturday and it's still way off being anywhere near ready. They were working on it though.

There is an alternative route - by the adjacent and rather less picturesque roads!

Wait for low tide and walk on the beach past it, or is that blocked as well?

As long as sea is calm and tide is low that would possible as long as your'e okay steep cliff climbing at Red rock where the path may or more likely may not? be open!

According to a friend of mine who lives in Dawlish, the sea wall will not be open to pedestrians until the end of the summer. Too much work needs to be done to repair it in various place.

In quite a few places the wall is missing entirely, and it's damaged for pretty much the whole length. It certainly looks like there's a lot of work to do.
