For someone I know - I will pass on result of any responses
He was due to get 17.25 Plymouth to Leeds tonight - advance ticket direct train he says
It was started at Exeter St Davids - due to weather issues at Dawlish.
He hadn't checked Journey Check prior to getting to the station - I don't think this should invalidate his right to onward transport. Not sure if it would for anyone getting walk up tickets but that's not relevant to him - I'd think it wouldn't.
'Line updates' says GWR ticket acceptance via any reasonable route.
He's intending to get the 18.03 GWR service and get off at Taunton.
Then the 19.50 Taunton to Birmingham New Street
Then the 22.30 Birmingham New Street to Manchester Piccadilly (as Journey Planner 'alternatives' says this way can get him still to Leeds)
But then he'll need to check with staff on that final train (or at Manchester - may be harder as no XC presence there I think, or via National Rail Enquiries/Help Point if essential) if he can get permission to take the 00.53 service to Leeds - it's TPE but only way to get there it seems - or XC could run road transport for him...
I think he's doing the right thing, although I am no expert. But I'd ask at Birmingham if it were my journey, not go to Manchester - although it does get him closer I suppose and it's all with Cross Country at that point
