He was probably surfing? Why is it hard to believe he was surfing? It didn't say he was surfing with any real skill!

Seems his holidays are full of bad luck.

From the article:
BBC said:
It is not the first time the PM has had an injury on holiday. He was stung by a jellyfish in Lanzarote last year.
Or as the Mirror put it, needlessly capitalising a noun mid-sentence:
David Cameron stung by JELLYFISH in Spain after ignoring advice to stay out of sea said:
Ex-pat Alan Lambert pointed out that one traditional cure is for someone to pee on the affected area - and said there would be no shortage of volunteers

I do believe he actually was surfing; he is keen on water sports. Everyone needs a break sometimes, and being the antithesis of Robin Hood must get tiring.

Not sure why these things make the press though.

More to the point, there are things we really should be talking about (such as the upcoming Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership), but somehow these escape the front pages and Mr Cameron's ear is more newsworthy!

This story is almost as interesting as when Angela Merkel injured herself skiing last year

I wonder what she was really doing?

Cameron's holiday is proving to be quite the major news story for the journalists at the British Broadcasting Corporation. The Prime Minister today was confirmed to have eaten some Pringles on his flight home. Click on through if you want to see all the juicy details, including which flavour of Pringles he was eating, just which airline he was flying with, and the all important video of him crunching away on this potato-based snack.

Pulitzer Prize winning stuff.

Absolutely, I now realise why 'social media' is so important to society in general and apologise profusely for my previous indifference to it

With some papers claiming the economy isn't doing as well as the Conservatives are saying with the PM flying Easyjet. Although, I imagine Cameron would claim he uses Easyjet because he wants to use a British airline, opposed to a Portuguese one, an Irish one or an Anglo-Spanish one.

Or maybe it just offered the right flight at the right time.

Perhaps less so now given her age, but certainly in the past, the Queen regularly attended events (like the theatre) without it being preannounced or there being a big fuss made. Ultimately, security worked because nobody would (hopefully) know s/he was there in time to do anything.

It's amazing, but not surprising, his social media went mad for this non story but also sad the mainstream media covered it, but using the usual excuse that it's just reporting what's being talked about.

That's a perfectly valid reason. At the beginning of the year I also booked flights to Portugal and had the choice of Ryanair or TAP and normally in the past I've used budget airlines. However, this time there wasn't a substantial difference in price and TAP had the better flight times so it made sense to use the non-budget airline.

However, as Cameron is a politician in government I think he's more likely to claim it's something to do with British business or the British economy.

Assuming it was low key, requiring less security, he'd probably not be claiming anything - but now everyone is analysing everything in great detail.

Do we know what flavour the pringles were? I'm sure someone somewhere will bring in an expert who can link flavours to personality.

I was meaning if we had someone like a Mirror* journalist asking him "Why were you flying Easyjet?" He's more likely to give the supporting British business argument, than saying he wanted to save money or saying they offered the best flight times etc.

* Where I think the 'story' originated from.

Odd isn't it? It's as though there is an agenda in the Press? It's more likely the August silly season again but it shouldn't be discounted
