it works by being given a username/password if you have a need for it in your job. That enables you to log in.

As theblackwatch states, it is controlled on an as per needs basis. If it is the one that gives the likes of stock allocations that you have seen, then you cannot get the information outside of the industry, however, if it is just live running info you are after, there is ATOC feed available which a few developers have linked into. Sites such as www.realtimetrains.co.uk and www.raildar.co.uk give you a bit more (and historical) info than the likes of NRES

AFAIK the staff departure boards are available to all staff - hence generic company logins. Ask a manager or HR/Internal Comms.

Is Darwin the "techie" name for the engine that powers the NRE Frontline app or is that something else?

Darwin is the system that handles realtime service updates and updates connected Customer Information Systems accordingly.

So if, for example, a train is terminated early and a replacement started further down the line, that would be fed into Darwin which would then update the CIS along the route.
