As a regular passenger through Darlington it has always seemed to me to have more lines passing through than it needs.
I understand the use of the 'loop' lines outside the station, but there is the line adjacent to the southbound platform's line. This looks used, but by what? There would already seem to be ample capacity. Also does anything use the buffer stopped line next to the northbound platform line.
