Would it be possible for the moderators to add a 'dark mode' option for viewing the forum?
I don't think that's what the OP means by 'Dark Mode', unless I'm the one misunderstandingIf you want "Dark Mode", just view the forum in Incognito Mode from your browser. Can't see why it would matter, none of us on the forum use real names anyway.
It seems to be getting more and more popular. I've got YouTube set to dark mode, and my phone's got a standard dark mode setting for all apps where it's applicable.Ah, in that case, I'd use it. much kinder to eyes.
Yes, that was my understandingI was going to say the same thing - I think the OP means "dark mode" in the sense that the site would go from looking like this:

To this:

What sharp white?Making everything black does not help with the sharp white though
When dark mode is on, the colours are removed but all the text is still bright whiteWhat sharp white?
Only if you’re lucky enough to be rocking an OLED screen.I imagined it was to enhance battery life![]()
I’ve never had that issue. When dark mode is on, the colours are removed but all the text is still bright white
I did have this issue but resolved it having white mode in the day and dark mode plus night shift on at night. It automatically changes at some point in the eveningI’ve never had that issue.
Of the apps/sites I use most often RailUk is the only one that doesn't have dark mode. Which is a bit annoying.I’d like to suggest the addition of a black/grey-based theme to the forums.
Indeed, as these dark modes have become popular on lots of mobile and computer applications, I was wondering what forum members and staff would think of having one here. It would make reading and browsing RailUK much easier on the eyes and more comfortable.
It’s only a suggestion, what do you guys think ?
Exactly this unfortunately - we’d effectively need to get an entirely separate theme designed which takes time. It’s definitely something we’d like to investigate - but it’s not something we’re realistically going to be able to roll out in the immediate future.Already been suggested. As I understand the situation from those in the know here a degree of bespoke work would be needed to implement a dark mode. The existing customisation on this site means it's not just a case of flipping on a template.
Since I have no interest whatsoever in 'dark mode' NO is a sensible choice for me, whether an option or not.
Why not just select "indifferent"?
Because there’s an opportunity cost to development time spent on a feature you don’t wantWhy not just select "indifferent"?
Here is the Wikipedia app in dark mode.I am indifferent, I think black on white like a newspaper is easiest to read. Besides, I am colorblind.
Could someone perhaps post a screenshot from another forum to give us an idea how it might look?
