Failures happen dear even to preserved locos as well-maintained as 50049.

Presumably the part that failed had always given trouble to the class so it's nothing new. It was an easy fix and was done in the time it takes to unscrew 8 bolts, remove, replace and re-screw the bolts in 8).

I'm not really blaming the 50, I blaming the fact that they completely cancelled the tour, even though they had a recuse loco ready to continue on with the tour. Feel sorry for the punters who were on it.

That is true there though 47853 was required on a different tour so another 47 would have been needed. I spose it was easier to can the 50 tour and get the 47 back to where it was needed than to run the 50 tour with the 47 and thus making the tour the 47 was booked on extremely late.

No-one has realised that the 50 and stock had to go to Poole (for 2 hours 27 mins) to get serviced but seeing as that class 47 started moving the train two hours late, it would have had no time to get serviced and it would have been a complete cock up with no water in the toilets or the kitchen.

What with no toilets and maybe no hot drinks/food, I don't think people in the Pullmans would be too happy after paying an arm and a leg.

I guess it was operationally too difficult. Never mind, I'm not complaining, I got two shots of 50049 and one of 47853...
