Dalmarnock Station Prepares For £8m Refurbishment For 2014

Hi all. I have attached a link below to a report from the Glasgow's Evening Times newspaper website regarding Dalmarnock train station in Glasgow's East End which has to benefit from an £8million refurbishment in preperation for Glasgow's 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Hi,

possibly as much as £8 million for a station tart up? hopefully common sense breaks out as that sounds mad for a two platform through station.

Mind you, the Partick upgrade didn't exactly go to plan.

A "tart-up"? Have you seen Dalmarnock? It's a **** hole. I for one would not want to go there alone in the evenings. It's a much needed upgrade for the Commonwealth Games, as Dalmarnock will be a key station for a lot of the venues in the East End.

Alone in the evenings? I don't like going there in the day (which is a shame considering theres a TRU nearby). It looks like a place drug dealers would go! This refurbishment is exactly what it needs.

Maybe this is just because 318 257 wants to get her face in the papers!

It is in desperate need of a refurbishment, definitely. Hopefully we will see S.P.T. give the go - ahead on Friday for the refurbishment to start taking place. Dalmarnock station at night is indeed quite eery but it also carries a pleasent atmosphere to go with the eery feel I think.
