I'm planning an Eastern European trip and wonder if any of the forum has used the Dacia Express service? Any info much appreciated. Ta.

(I would probably be travelling from Budapest to Buchurest) - comments on the standards of catering available would be nice. esp. if you have used them.

May I suggest you try the German Drehscheibe-online Auslandsforum (Overseas forum). An online translator will get you a long way.

To use the search engine or to post you will need to register (which is very simple) and if you ask a question in English most people will answer in very understandable English.

Note the convention: start a question with ?[HU] if it relates to Hungary etc.

You could try this lot http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HunRail/ too. Ferenc is a native and very very knowledgable. I would be sure some of them know about it. I'm fairly sure catering has gone from Hungarian trains now. Could be wrong tho', definately gone on the domestic stuff.

I've done Budapest-Bucharest in a very nice sleeper. The choice in the restaurant was a bit limited though. Came back day train Sighisoara-Budapest, restaurant was much the same. The scenery through Transylvania is great, although the trains can be very slow, Hungary is as flat as a pancake though
