Saw the Yuletide East Yorkshireman pass through Bempton hauled by D1031 Western Rifleman. According to Wiki this engine was scrapped, and tour info said D1017 was being used. Can anyone explain please
Have you ever wanted to see your favourite Western Class 52 locomotive hard at work on the Main Line? Well, now you can with the DIESEL TRACTION GROUP.....
We are offering you the chance to have your very own replica Western name and numberplate manufactured to original specifications, then carried on the ONLY mainline registered Class 52 whilst you travel behind it in style!
The DTG will manufacture and attach your plates to one side of D1015 Western Champion to be carried on a charter train of your choice. Also included are two tickets for yourself and a guest and a guided tour of 'your' engine during the tour.
The original delay was an NR points failure at Kidderminster preventing the Western getting off the SVR on to the tour train. Thanks
Link explains everything, took a couple of pictures today, came home, Googled some info about engine etc. and ended up confused.

And on a related note it was running well over half an hour late on arrival at Bridlington, and caused a bit of chaos on the single track section between Brid and Hunmanby, it had to wait for the Sheffield service to head south (13:58 Bempton) then headed north passing Bempton around 14:15. Northern service to Scarborough 14:13 Bempton was behind it and was running 30mins late by the time it came through around 14:45
I suspect there were some upset people on Northern service as they will have missed the 14:55 departure to Liverpool Lime Street at Seamer. Connections at Seamer are patchy between Northern and TPE, and this is one of the better ones, with 15 mins to wait so is popular.
Will the railtour company have to pick up the delay repay that will no doubt result from this?
And Northern have promised an hourly service on this line at the end of next, I suspect timetable will not be robust. Could this be the end of the very occasional specials on the Brid to Scarborough line.
Alas that was your last chance to see "D1031"/1015 for a while. One of the engines has had a major failure causing repairs to be required. The London-Cardiff-Plymouth-London 40 year anniversary tour in February is the first cancellation with also the out Western/back Tornado tour also now subject to change.
UPDATE
D1015 'WESTERN CHAMPION' SUFFERED A SERIOUS PROBLEM TO ONE OF ITS TWO ENGINES DURING THE LATTER PART OF ITS HAULAGE OF OUR 'YULETIDE EAST YORKSHIREMA' EXCURSION ON 17 DECEMBER. IT SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE LAST FEW MILES OF THE RUN ON ONE ENGINE.
THE LOCOMOTIVE'S OWNERS, THE DIESEL TRACTION GROUP (DTG), WILL NOW REMOVE AND INSPECT THE PROBLEMATIC ENGINE TO ASCERTAIN WHAT COURSE OF ACTION IS NEEDED, AND PUT A TIMESCALE ON REPAIRS.
IN THE LIGH TOF THIS DEVELOPMENT WE WILL AWAIT FURTHER NEWS FROM THE DTG, AND WILL UPDATE THE POSITION IN THE FIRST PART OF JANUARY, FIRSTLY BY CONTACTING BOOKED PASSENGERS AND THEN UPDATING THIS WEBSITE.
WE WISH DTG WELL WITH ITS INVESTIGATIONS, AND HAVE OUR FINGERS VERY FIRMLY CROSSED.
