With an alias like mine, I can't deny that I am a huge Western fan - I was with them in the late 1970's right up to that fateful day in February 1977 when they bowed out in such a memorable way. I'm not saying that one class is better than another or that everyone should have the same opinion as me, but looking at this I have to say, IMHO, Class 52's had style!

I don't know anyone who isn't impressed by D1015. She's an absolute beast to travel behind or watch from the lineside/platform. Indeed, I recall on her trip through Trowbridge in April how envious I was of the lucky souls on board!

Only ever had her on The Western Refiner, but she blew me away. Passing through Llanelli sticks firmly in memory as a highlight of the return leg, but every bit of it rocked!

You won't find me disagreeing with you. They are fantastic and wonderful. I've had the good fortune to be on charter up the Lickey on load 13 where 'The Champ' topped at 32mph. This tour was also the class' first ever trip over the S and C. Anyway, finish with a shameless plug, photo of some rich blokes 50th birthday train chartered from London and back, seen on the Severn Valley at Bewdley http://www.trainpics.net/p45084379.html the real shame here, I thought, was that they could have took 1015 off for the short stock moves as they had matching Pullman livery 73101 on the line at the time.
