Greetings fellow Rail fans
I hope this is the right place to ask ?
One thought that has been in my head now for a many number of years about the Western region class 52s that i cannot seem to find the answer too .
now i know i D1007 / D1055 / D1040 had serious accidents and i have read there full accident reports.
Having read a few books and date files again recently its seems the locos had there far share of accidents has many were logged down to be withdrawn because of "collision damage" related .
But has i see it D1000 is listed has being withdrawn on 02-74 because of also "collision damage"
and scrapped pretty quickly by 31.07.74.? and photos of it in the Swindon scrapyard are hard to find.
( Withdrawn February 1974 after 1,240,000 miles service, due to 'A' end collision damage.)
is about the best i can find.
So my question is does anyone know the reason for the "collision damage" and were it happened .
many thanks
