There are also logical reasons for evening services being a different operator. For instance, High Peak run some Macclesfield locals in the daytime. If Cheshire East decides to contract an evening 14 then High Peak wouldn't be able to interwork it and would need to send a vehicle back to their depot very late along the Car and Fiddle, which may create problems in winter.

You can also have a big operator using large buses on the daytime service, and it wouldn't be financially viable for them to use a 40 seater on an evening service, or for them to acquire a solitary small bus for that contract.

I though High Peak based the vehicles for the 14 and maybe at least one vehicle for the 130 Sunday (same vehicles pool?) at D&G Macclesfield someone said on here once, so wouldn’t be an issue potentially winning evening Macclesfield evening work and having to go over the Cat and Fiddle.

In any case they probably would go via High Lane if the more rural routes are closed.

No they don’t - the 14/14A is interworked with the 58, and the 130 runs dead to/from the depot at Dove Holes.

The Cat and Fiddle is the A537, so it's a main road not the back lanes. High Peak are known to cancel services in snow, even when there's no snow in Macclesfield or Stockport. Fortunately we've not had snow that's taken weeks to clear for a few years now, but when it happens High Peak experience widespread disruption across their network.

Yes there's alternative ways of getting to and from Buxton but even when that's possible it can still result in early services not running and the route closing early. They don't want to risk the driver not being able to return home within their dedicated driving hours.

I said rural route not a back lane and we know from reality if you live in the area the Cat and Fiddle has many times closed when the better via Adlington and High Lane is open despite both being main roads.

High Peak have as you say from memory cancelled services when the route via Adlington and High Lane is passable and Macclesfield and Stockport are ok but Cat and Fiddle is closed.
