Czech Level Crossing Accident

There was a serious level crossing this morning in Czech Republic at Dolnej Lutyni, near Bohumin, with a lorry that was on the crossing. Sadly the locomotive driver was killed in the accident.

Today, January 24, 2024 at 5:43 a.m. train IC 546 (151.020) and a truck collided near Dolna Lutyna in Karvinska. The driver of the train was killed in the accident and 15 other people were injured.

The accident happened at a railroad crossing that is equipped with barriers. According to the records from the crossing, it is possible that the truck got stuck at the crossing and the train could no longer stop in front of it.

The operation on the corridor line between Karvina and Bohumín was stopped. The repair of the damaged line and the removal of the crashed vehicles will last at least until Saturday.
