Looking to book several cycles for next year on Fort William to Glasgow service, I note some have reservation option for 9 bikes, what class/type carriage will take that amount, is it one carriage dedicated to bikes and luggage (similar to the Manchester to Cardiff on TFW) or is there availability across several, seems like a lot of space.
Thanks for any information. John

Each 156 unit can take 6.

Currently one working, the 1222 to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig has one of ScotRail's cycle van 153s added Glasgow to Fort William, so that particular service can carry a further 20 bikes.

It’s basically a 153 attached to the normal 156 units that has been repurposed for exactly that - cycles and luggage.

Many thanks for your information.

One other quick question there seems to be question of whether or not the "direct" service is truly direct but does in fact have need to change.

Thanks John

It is direct. It attaches a portion from Oban at Crianlarich.

There are three services to Fort William/Mallaig from Glasgow Queen Street (0821, 1222 and 1823 currently), these all have an Oban portion as well but are direct to all three destinations, no change required - you just remain in the relevant portion.

Great, thanks for that.
