hi all. I’m new to this thread and the railway industry. I wanted to find out if anyone knows what conductor competence means. I wish to apply for the above role in Learning and Development however I have never worked as a conductor or in the industry before.

If anyone knows anymore or works in the professional services in railway I’d be grateful.

It means you have to be a qualified conductor/guard in a nutshell. Not necessarily a serving one, but you’d have to hold a current competency and still be ‘in ticket’ if you like.

If it’s just desirable criteria rather than essential, you’d obviously be able to apply, but that doesn’t seem clear from the advert you’ve shared.

If this is for TFW you would have to have be a qualified conductor to apply.
