Hi,

I spotted it just this morning, and closes on 1st Feb. Anyone know what elements of shunting there might be? I can only imagine it would supporting the shunter driver whilst doing small consist movements from sidings to platform?

I can't imagine there is a huge amount as it's linked to a CSA which is platform based.

Well if anyone does the job and knows a little more as the JD doesn't really give that much info away.

cheers:D

If ever there's a job that seriously dilutes safety roles on the railway, this sounds like it.

Next week - CSA - Driver
Sells kit kats, checks tickets and despatches train. Whilst driving it.

Ohnoes.

Is it not a dispatch role that also involves a bit of coupling sets together on the platform?

Surely the only time you need a non driving shunter at a Virgin station now is to couple a 57 to a pendolono?
Coupling 2 units up won't need an additional person to the driver
What location is this?

At Crewe 57s are occasionally coupled and uncoupled from pendelinos, probably covers the shunting side of the role. The rest of the time I assume the role is Platform Despatch. Currently I believe the 57 hauled is only once per week so the shunting would be minimal at this location

Isnt the driver of the 57 accompanied by a secondman anymore? It is perhaps one the most oddest job combo's i've seen so far.

Still worth applying for anyway.

A jobs a job these days!

For those in the know, how much does a normal CSA get from Virgin, just wondering what how much extra is for the 'shunting' duties.
