The September timetable is not a return to normal, AIUI the Portsmouth direct will still be 2/3 service (2tph vice 3). From what I've seen, commuter demand has pretty much collapsed, so no need for the peak extras the 442s were providing.I believe they are out of service (surplus to requirements) until the COVID-19 timetable is withdrawn and normal service is restored in September.

Since they were only supposed to be a temporary fleet anyway, how long will it be before SWR decide they're no longer worth spending more money on?
