Hello,

I'm just booking my place on the Cumbrian Mountain express and in the ticketing opinions I can select: Standard Class Passenger Electric Blue Offer WCME. What does this mean exactly as it isn't stated anywhere on the site?

Thanks

Joe Bevan

If you ring this number 01553 661500 and ask them I'm sure they would give you the definitive answer.

Can I just hijack this thread slighly. Does anyone know if this service usually takes the down fast or slow lines through the Trent Valley? Thanks.

Thanks for your replies guys, too late now as I've booked the full tour (which I'm pretty happy about)

According to my info- its on the fast both ways.

Thanks

Does anyone know which loco will work it this Saturday? The pool is Black Five 45305 and A4 60009 Union of South Africa both of which are currently at York according to uksteam. Also according to uksteam the A4 is provisionally booked to run LE to Carnforth tomorrow so looks like it could well be the A4. Good if it is!

A4 not going to be running today it seems. Heard that support coach has derailed at York curtailing the ECS move.

Anyone know what the problem was with 60009 today? It was about 20' late at Ais Gill and stalled just before the summit, emitting a lot of black smoke. It got going again after a few minutes.

She didn't stall just a sudden brake application.

I was on it, one of the staff said one of the footplate crew accidentally fell on a brake lever.

Fortuitous that it stopped abeam a group of thirty or so hardy photographers arrayed across the adjacent hillside!

Any more detail on the reason for the stop?

Regards - Morpethcurve

Yes - the latest Steam Railway mag says there appears to have been a temporary problem with the air pump.

I was one of the photographers in the field and got this shot seconds before it came to a halt. Good smoke effects eh?

I can happly say there was no issues with the air pump and the stop was down to a lump of coal knocking the emergency brake valve.
