I'd love to do this one, but sadly can't On the plus side, it's coming through Shipley with the choppers right past where I take my sons to play football on Saturday mornings, so if anyone's got any idea what time it'll be through Shipley, please let me know. You never know, I might even wave at you!

Not seen full timings, but it is booked into Carlisle at 12.45 - so I'd asume it will follow the 09.47 Leeds-Carlisle.

Nice get up for that one.... Glad I'm not driving up to it! Surely though, even the route it is taking Int - New St, it doesn't take near 55mins does it? I don't have the best Midlands Railway geography so willing to be corrected!

It's not going from International to New Street direct, which just takes 10 mins by Pendo. It's being routed via the freight only route (except for the odd Wrexham Shropshire service) through Washwood Heath and Aston, and into New Street from the north end, as otherwise it would have to reverse in New Street to get onto the Derby line to head to Burton after coming in on the WCML. If it's not top and tailed then Network Rail would not be happy allowing time for a run round at New Street!

From the Spitfire website: "BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL-Stechford North Jn-Aston North Jn-Perry Bar South Jn-Soho East Jn-Soho South Jn-BIRMINGHAM NEW STREET-Grand Jn-Landor St Jn-Water Orton-Tamworth High Level-BURTON ON TRENT".

That's an abysmally early start from International though, it'll be out of and into the West Midlands in the dark!

Yea ta, I am aware it's not going direct but I didn't think it would still take nigh on 55mins. Agreed with the start time, I would rather 0605 start and back an hour later, but oh well.

Hmm yeah 55 minutes does seem extortionate, especially considering it's only booked 42 minutes for the same loop on the return. Must be plenty of recovery time built in there, I think speed over the freight sections (Would I be correct in thinking that Perry Barr to Soho Junc. is also freight only?-Don't have my track atlas to hand) will best be described as "leisurely" Also notice that it's booked A WHOLE HOUR just to get from Derby to Chesterfield (Just 28 minutes on the way back) and that 05:05 start looks increasingly unreasonable. I agree that a later start and end would be preferable.

I'm sure he knew that - but s Skipton time is very useful for someone at Shipley, as knowing that is takes around 20-30 minutes between the two points, it gives a rough guide of the time it will pass through. So no need to try and be a clever ar$e.

thankyou, i only had the time for skipton as that's where i'm going and it was the only time i requested for from spitfire...

Perry Barr North to Soho South junctions is in regular passenger use by LM Rugeley - New Street services.

As for Derby - Chesterfield it has a booked 20 minute stop at Ambergate on the outward run!
