Cumbrian coast train allocations?

Hi. I'm sure this has been discussed previously as I have seen it on here before but I now can't find the information I'm wanting so I'm having to ask the people that know once again!
What type of trains run each service on the Cumbrian line between Carlisle and Barrow/Lancaster?
I'm in the area next week and I'm going to make full use of the northern £10 ticket but I do want to pick and choose the train I could travel on! .
I seem to remember it is usually a 156 but I also recall a conversation on these boards about the usage of 153's and the dreaded 142's!?
If anyone could tell me what each service is usually allocated to please? (I'm not interested in the late evening shorts between Carlisle and Workington! )

There's just the one out and back working for a 142 on the Cumbrian Coast, during the week: The 10:10 Barrow in Furness to Carlisle and 12:47 Carlisle to Lancaster.

Class 153s are fairly prevalent on the route but I'm not sure exactly which services they work.

In my experience it's mainly 156s with the odd 153 thrown in. At peak times it may be a 156+153, presumably to cater for the Sellafield commuters.

From the other thread, I think it was looking like Monday to Friday only. Could be wrong though.

I think it's wonderful that loco hauled is coming to the Cumbrian Coast.

It's just a shame (but no surprise) that they are to displace the 156's, which are completely suited to the route and not the completely unsuited 142, which the route will doubtlessly be lumbered with for ever more.

I encountered this freezing unit at Ravenglass, intending to travel to Carlisle and ended up bailing at St Bees !

Agree the 142s are not the best units to be running about on diagrams of around 3 hours + but I believe the booked working up and down to Carlisle is to allow barrow and Workington crews to keep their knowledge retention on them. Unlike larger depots like Leeds and Blackpool up at barrow and Workington without these booked diagrams some drivers and guards may not end up working a 142 for weeks or even months on end, which is no good when the **** goes down the pan. Carlisle get them regularly on Newcastle diagrams but Carlisle don't go down the Cumbrian Coast.
