Just south of Frimby (near Workington) a number of silver coloured posts with the figures of 9 19 or 9 21 stencilled on. They refer to the milepost distance from Whitehaven being 9 miles 19 chains etc. They are close to the ballast not in the usual position for the normal mileposts (which are also visible). Does anyone know what these silver posts are for - relaying work or what. Cheers
