Good isn't it!! Was booked on it for the Western and now it gets a Deltic.

The bloke is a broken record player though. :roll: But yes, Deltic's and air-cons are definitely authentic - think the latest Railways Illustrated has a photo of a Deltic in it with a mixed rake that included air-cons.

Looking forward to this one! I believe that this tour does cover a bit of new track for a Deltic, (i.e. the sidings just to the north of Hooton station and bits of the Cumbrian Coast) and the same would've been the case for the Western had it not failed and still be available to do it.

It's not really about authenticity though for me, as I've repeatedly tried to explain to you. I like thrash, that's all, and you can't hear it in a coffin. Besides, any loco dating from the 50s or 60s is authentic hauling mk Is or early mk IIs, so your 'authenticity' argument is a bit hollow really. I don't really care if other people like aircons. That's up to them. Shame you can't extend the same courtesy to me regarding my preference for pressure ventilation.

Reality of course is that you can't stand the idea that anyone has a different view to you, and if that occurs it must be ridiculed and deliberately misunderstood. Much like a famous right wing nutcase from the popular press of yesteryear who called himself 'the voice of reason', very unsubtle code for 'my view is always right'.

Can anyone tell me how the Deltic's running? On time? An interesting point to note is that on the Durham Coast line this afternoon there's going to be two 37s and a Deltic heading north within an hour of each other! :D

Good to see some pics, shame that the Durham Coast mini tour didn't happen, I was hoping to see it round the Sunderland area. Suggests that the two 37s on the Hartlepool nuclear flask (37601 and 37604) may have been the culprits causing the pathing issues, as the Deltic was planned to run in, or very close to, the path that has recently been used by the return flasks.

To add insult to injury, said service ran approximately 90 minutes late - but apart from that it was a great trip!
