Does anyone know why Northern services on the Cumbria Coast have been getting delayed today? Mainly South of Carlisle and if this is expected to continue.

Thanks for clarifying. St. Bees is of course one of the locations on the Cumbrian Coast line where a Northbound service has to wait for a Southbound service to pass (because of the single line sections either side) so if one service is delayed, probably both will be.

Quite a few services seem to have ran through St. Bees bang on time today, but others were delayed. Anyone able to shed any further light on what may have been happening?

Even the so called 'delayed' trains were only a few minutes adrift:

Hardly seems to warrant starting a thread, unless I'm missing something?

There a good chance this has been sorted, and is not longer affecting the line, but there have been a couple of issues with the token machines at St Bees recently. Whilst there are procedures in place to keep trains moving when this happens, a few minutes of delay here and there are to be expected. That said, due to the nature of the line, a few minutes can be expected during normal operations.
