Northern driver training on class 769s for those drivers working the Cumbria services has been cancelled as there are no units available to train on due to technical issues. I do not know what the technical issues are or when/if they are likely to be resolved. Instead, drivers working the Cumbria services who would have been trained on 769s are instead being trained on 158s ready for the May timetable change.

Where will these 158 units be based. Heaton/Blackburn?

All Northern 158s are currently allocated to Neville Hill. Day to day they could come from Blackburn, Blackpool North, Preston or wherever overnight stabling takes place for 158s.

Full list(?) of services in question. Most run via Wigan North Western, a few peak time extras via Bolton.

Obviously those are subject to (and possibly likely to) change, but yes, those are most of the trains potentially running in May. There's also a 0829 Airport-Windermere in the system not stopping at Lancaster, one of many ways they've avoided the 158s being caught (in the timetable at least) by faster trains.

Thank you. It was Lancaster messing up my search. Four Windermere services have been loaded in:

Must say there's been some definite improvements, with stations such as Ulverston finally receiving a proper 1tph - it's not all clockface (yet!) but will be much better.

Looks good, for the Barrow-Lancaster runs there is a large gap between the 1353 and 1550 service. Also wonder if there ought to be a service leaving Barrow after 10pm?

With Heaton loosing 142s in the next few years. Heaton will most likely receive an allocation of 158s plus some more 156s. Newcastle drivers are to be retrained on 158s starting in April so I've been told. The eight units from Scotrail will most likely be the ones based at the depot.

There was a post in the Northern unit refurbishment thread that Heaton were to get the Perkins engined 158s, didn't say when though.

There's a ECS move into Barrow station which looks like it should form a 1450-ish departure. The timetables, should they actually happen, are obviously incomplete southbound - there are 4 trains from Manchester to Windermere but only 1 in the other direction.
