Cuffley to Knightsbridge

I am looking for some advice.

Currently have a quarterly all zones travelcard from Cuffley £841.

I usually board the 7.20am service, change at Finsbury Park and take Piccadilly line all way to Knightsbridge, occasionally Victoria line to Green park if there is an issue or strike on Piccadilly Line.

Return journey is the same and starts anywhere between 4pm and 6pm.

I have never had an Oyster but think I am missing out here.

Looking at quarterly options ideally if it makes a difference, might be able to stretch to 6 month if it is significantly better?

Any advice on how to cut cost, I want a straightforward option, get on train get off train, no additional changes other than stated.

I don't think Oyster will make much difference, but you can change your paper ticket for a "The Key" smartcard which may be useful.

I'd consider purchasing 'odd period' season tickets in blocks of 5 weeks. For example.

Start date Monday week 1 through to Friday week 5
Next ticket start Monday week 6 etc.

You don't get any additional discount for purchasing a quarterly ticket over a monthly one.

I wouldn't buy a longer period season ticket in your situation. The way season ticket prices are determined means that a 1 month season ticket would offer roughly the same value for money as a 6 month one. The information here describes it in more detail.

I don't know if Oyster would allow you to save any money.

One thing you could do, if you were happy to catch slower trains, is to buy a Cuffley-Bowes Park season ticket and a Zones 1-3 Travelcard. This would cost £251.60 a month against £280.40 for the through ticket. You would have to catch trains which stopped at Bowes Park if you did this, as your tickets wouldn't be valid between Alexandra Palace and Palmers Green otherwise.
