Csa working pattern

Folks,
l'm interested to know what type of working pattern the CSA/Onboard catering crew do. For example, l have travelled Glasgow to London with Virgin and observed a crew change somtimes at Preston. Other times its been the same crew throughout the whole journey again similar with East Coast.

Do staff onboard do a return jorney ie from Glasgow to London then back to Glasgow as when departing London one morning there was a Scottish crew and they terminated at Glasgow Central. Can anyone enlighten me?

I suspect it's different for VT and EC, but crews change at Preston 9 times out of 10 on Virgin. I don't know the exact working patterns though.

At EC, the maximum working day is 12 hours so there is no KX to Glasgow/Aberdeen/Inverness working for a single crew, however KX to EDIN and back or vice versa is a working diagram for some crews.Some KX-EDIN services will still have a change of crew at Newcastle, it just depends on how rostering works out the diagrams. Trains terminating at Newcastle or Leeds will always just have the one crew for the duration. Cant comment on Virgin. Catering crew at EC will always start and finish at their home depot.

Its different whereever you go, when I worked with XC as a First Class Host, I used to do trips from Newcastle to Reading and Bristol and back sometimes rostered 13 hours (especially during the Bradway Tunnel works), but sometimes just as far as Birmingham

I've used the 16:40 Glasgow-Euston a few times and a London-based First Class crew do the entire journey, travelling up on the 09:30 from Euston earlier. Similarly, I think the 11:30 from Euston is a Scotish crew all the way through, having travelled down from Glasgow earlier. On the Anglo Scotish Super Voyagers, TMs always change at Preston but CSAs often stay on board for the entire 4 hrs.
