Hint: The Geordie part refers to the geographical area in which the station is situated....while the rest is a slightly cryptic anagram plus an old-fashioned alternative way of saying "stays put".

Before I throw in the towel and give the answer, I'll try an alternative clue:

Re. the original clue:

Geordie gives a clue to the geographical area. The rest is an anagram of:

lad = Young

and

"leaves not" = stays put.

Your turn for a trip to Ashington.
The letters of an anagram should be in the clue and there ought to be an anagram indicator e.g. novel, badly, drunk, different, worked, ugly etc.

Next clue:

In the bookies I backed Shergar for the next race but despite its name the racecourse is 90 miles from here.
