Sleights? Dancer is a reindeer on Santa's squad -- "sleigh", plus initial letters of "too" and "slow".

Io Saturnalia ! Thanks --

Across the water: we might hear -- with a certain intonation -- Eton boss master courteously inviting his Harrow counterpart to an equestrian excursion.

Arrochar and Tarbet? The Master of Eton, who hails from London' East End, invites his friend from Harrow on a horse-drawn charabanc (familiarly, 'char'), while courteously thanking a lady, Elizabeth, who is providing sandwiches for the outing

Alas, no.

Highly ingenious; but, I'm afraid, wrong. Oddly enough, I set one not quite four years ago (post #8,452), answer Arrochar and Tarbet, clue along broadly similar lines -- involving horse-drawn conveyance, and thanks being given to an Elizabeth.

A simpler answer might be Ryde Pier Head, though that seems a bit far-fetched.
That is indeed the answer -- I don't think particularly far-fetched, though of course I'm biased: idea being, the headmaster of Eton inviting same of Harrow, to accompany him on a horseback trip ("Ride, peer Head?"); "courteously" because it's probable that in fact he looks down his nose at his opposite number, as boss-man of that -- compared to his own august establishment -- worthless dump north-west of London; but is too polite to say so.

Your next one to set, for the honour of the jolly old alma mater.
