I would say Abercynon, as it is an anagram of Ryton can be without the letter T

But I am clutching at straws here.

I was thinking, in extremely batty way -- straw-clutching wasn't in it -- of a Sussex station. Back to the drawing-board...

Where did you get from?

With your "split the clue into two parts... when you find the correct half you will have all the letters for the anagram and none left over" -- there are 36 letters in your clue. I selected 18 therefrom, to make my suggested answer. (The place doesn't exist -- but what do you want, eggs in your beer?)

Seems like a hint is needed.

An anagram is involved using names or initials by which the locomotives mentioned are sometimes known which with one of the other words give you a station in South East England.

The only station in that area that I can think of that might be close is Cooden Beach.

The 73 is an ED, coach is in there, which leaves bone. Is that something to do with a 158?

Correctly solved.

Class 58 (not 158) were known as bones.

Your turn.
