You need to consider the two possible meanings of "against extremes" one of which provides the key.
Here's a hint to that hint:

The two possible meanings are:
Opposed to two abstract things that are as different from each other as possible
The two ends of the word "against"

Sorry, not that one. For any one else listening in, here's a list of towns which have three train stations:- Ardrossan, Blackpool, Bootle, Burnley, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter, Maidstone, Pontefract, Redcar, Ryde, Warrington and Watford.
