All I can think of is Rustenberg; which is in South Africa, so that's no use ...

We are what we are -- a few Cryptos who rattle in our cages. It would be nice if we could enlarge our Circle to include more participants. Some Quiz forums seem to have lots of contributors -- sadly not ours. Perhaps cryptic crosswords are not the "in thing" any more? Does anyone have any idea how we might attract new members to our Club?
I incline to the opinion that cryptic clues -- in crosswords or elsewhere -- have likely always been something of a minority taste: one needs to be endowed with a particular kind of mental "kink" (some would go so far as to say "perversion") by which one both has the knack for this particular kind of "brain acrobatics", and the ability to enjoy it. I've come across very many people, excellently equipped in the grey-matter department, who've expressed re cryptic-clue stuff, both a lack of aptitude / ability for such doings, and a total lack of interest in / lack of appeal experienced by them, concerning same. (My brother -- a very bright guy -- is one. He has tried cryptic crosswords, and ended up in a state of great annoyance with them; most of the time he simply did not "get" the workings of the clues; when he did -- or had them explained to him -- he considered the whole business irritatingly contrived and foolish.) I have a strong feeling that attempted recruiting for potential "cryptic" enthusiasts, would not be very fruitful: this thing just isn't for the majority of people.

I am not suggesting for one minute changing the format of this Forum...
Something which I have floated before, re this particular quiz: an envisaged change, which would be one of expansion, not of restriction or retrenchment. As at present: it is current passenger stations in the UK (including Northern Ireland, that being part of the UK) which are valid. I'd like to suggest casting the net a little wider, to include current passenger stations in the Republic of Ireland, and the Isle of Man. I for one would much appreciate the (fairly modest) increasing of scope, which such a move would give.
