The station name doesn't feature the noun for any kind of royal personage; nor the personal name of any specific Royal, past or present.

Hint: there's a place whose name is very well-known generally, owing to its strong links with the royal family. It doesn't have, and never has had, a railway station; however, there is an open and functioning passenger station -- our "answer station" -- with the exact same name, about 200 miles away and in a different country of the UK.

Correct: Balmoral station, Northern Ireland Railways; between Belfast and Lisburn. Per original clue -- in the 19th century, when the Great North of Scotland Railway planned to extend its Ballater branch westward to Braemar, passing close by Queen Victoria's beloved retreat of Balmoral Castle -- the Queen made known her great displeasure at the scheme; which was dropped. The area near Belfast, takes its name from the large and impressive Balmoral Park; which is presumably, in turn, named after the Royals' Scottish gaff.
