The only thing I can come up with which doesn't really make too much sense appears to be: Gerrards Cross.
Connections: GER (Great Eastern Railway), and Cross because Fred got ousted. Can't really fit in the rest of the clue though.
Originally named Jarett's Cross due to a famous Highwayman (armed staff?). Also "The Professional" (guns again) TV series was filmed (at least partly there).
ARDS (for the Ardrossan Railway)? (nowhere near though).
