Attempt in desperation -- Bo'ness?? (Bo'ness & Kinneil preserved line.) Otherwise -- shiver me timbers, me hearty, I have just no idea.

... and between a punch and fast.

Do you see a pattern emerging?

pirate, captain, Dutch corner, punch

navy, ships, river, fast

The former looks like Hook and the latter Fleet. These are separate stations, so could the station required be Winchfield between the two?

How about

An odd randy cannabis labourer became disoriented after smoking one too many spliffs, and ended up at this station.

Anagrammatising "A. o. r. c. l." as above -- one feels that the old Great Northern Railway or one of its associated undertakings ought to have had a station somewhere called "Baldersby And Courannon Drain"; but even if such a station had existed, it would doubtless now be long-closed :) .

The station is very much open, and has seen its services improved in recent years.

Hint : The name of the station incorporates a station on the London Underground

No way, I'm sure, that it can be Nairn??? If, unbelievably, it were -- as above, open floor.

Another hint:

You need to answer two questions:

1. Who or what is Ian Park's third character?
2. Where would you find Ian Park's third character?

Then combine the two answers to get the name of the station.

Thanks for hints. I'm trying, slowly (only just back from "Net exile"). The Bob Seger bit was no help, I'm afraid: I have problems getting this "music" thing which you Earthlings set such great store by...
