Lincoln?
York?
Bank?
Dolau (DOL)
Llanaber (LLA)
Largs (LAR)
In what sense is Godalming the only station on American bank notes?
I might have expected that with the fleet in port the standard of questions would plummet.
When's your next "holiday"? I hope it will be much longer than the last, permanent would suit me fine. Meanwhile I'll just put you back on my ignore list, it's better for my blood pressure that way.
Thanks for a proper clue beermaddavep
Next clue:
Like a mannequin, sickly (and with a third rate football club)
Dollis Hill
Blimey Jona26 I thought that would run for a bit longer than that. You must be a Neasden supporter, which one are you Sid Bonkers or Doris Bonkers?
Well done, your turn...
Selhurst?? (sell -- off, cheaply; hearse, conveyance for dead people; plus t, just because...)
Re recent doings about my clue which seemed not to go well: I just got the feeling that in some way, Id done the equivalent of weeing on the carpet at a Buckingham Palace tea party to which Id been invited by the Queen. Wondered whether Northern Ireland (location of answer to clue) was, after all, taboo: but weve since had Marino, so no problem there. Sorry I was clearly overly thin-skinned -- went off and sulked for a bit.
My clue, Heard locally, screwing-up of an A.M. mucky business ! the answer was, Magheramorne. Said with the local accent, sounds a lot like mar a morn = screw up or spoil, an A.M. or morning. The mucky bit: this location was one end of the run of the trains of hopper wagons, with 2-6-4T s fore and aft, which ran in a shuttle operation, approx. 1968 1970, to take earth and rock extracted at Magheramorne, to a site a little way north of Belfast city, for reclamation of an area of the lough shore for building of the M5 (I think) motorway. These workings were referred to locally, and by enthusiasts, as the muck trains.
Selhurst?? (sell -- off, cheaply; “hearse”, conveyance for dead people; plus t,just because....
Penyffordd?
Thanks for clearing up the mystery, it was established a while back that NI stations being part of the UK are perfectly acceptable so you didn't wee on anyone's carpet, welcome back.
