Next clue:

The DMU has right away at this station
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
...

It might be easier if you changed "DMU" to "HST", "The Flying Scotsman", "the 0930 from Paddington to Exeter" or any other train you choose.

The nearest I can think of is Yeovil Pen Mill.

'DMU' is immaterial, so therefore the rest of the clue must be looked at; clue therefore not anagram
Synonyms for 'away' include 'off'
Plymouth has a ferry service to Roscoff
Right of Plymouth on a railway map would be east of Plymouth
Yeovil is east of Plymouth
Yeovil Pen Mill is the station for Yeovil that is further east
SWT now has 'right of way' to run via Yeovil Pen Mill

Probably nowhere near, a bit daft really. Besides, the train might not be completely immaterial; it might have another meaning. And the word 'station' isn't included.

DMU isn't immaterial it's just one member of a particular set as are all the others I suggested.

I had to look at that a few times before I saw it, but I knew it was something like that! Couldn't get Lympstone Commando out of my head!

This is probably an easy one, but:

Lost your marbles, Nigel?

Dale has it. Only took 9 minutes! I'm not the best at writing these clues.

A good bit of lateral thinking that almost convinced me there were two possible answers but then I noticed there are an "f" and a "d" left over, so no it's not Freshford.

...

Another hint:

At its opening in 1998 the local men might have been merry.
