.... I'm going to be pedantic and say that "high" isn't synonymous with "main" .....

Actually, if you google 'synonym main', 'high' is right in the mix of acceptable words.
But my actual thought process was that 'main road' would equate to 'high street' as this is very common in my neck of the woods. Most principle main shopping roads are called High Street.

Your suggestion of Headingley is not as good as High Street, you were almost there with High Street just keep thinking along those lines and remember 400 miles.
